We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Accountant to join our team and play a pivotal role in managing our finances and supporting our various ventures. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting, enabling them to effectively oversee our financial operations and contribute to our overall business success. Your Responsibilities
As our Chief Accountant, you will:
- Oversee and manage the accounting operations, including the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and procedures
- Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards, laws, and regulations
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to support the company’s growth and strategic objectives
- Prepare and present financial statements, reports, and analysis for management, investors, and other stakeholders
- Coordinate and manage the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts
- Monitor financial performance and conduct variance analysis to identify areas for improvement
- Manage cash flow and working capital to support the company’s ongoing financial needs
- Oversee tax planning and compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filing of all tax-related obligations
- Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities as required
- Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
- Collaborate with other departments to support cross-functional initiatives and drive overall business success
Requirements
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a Chief Accountant role or a similar capacity within Startups or SMEs
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is preferred
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations
- Experience implementing and maintaining accounting systems and procedures
- Proficiency in data analytics and financial reporting to support data-driven decision-making
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information to diverse team members and stakeholders
- Excellent people management and team-building abilities
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Familiarity with essential accounting software, such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage, and office productivity suites (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)
